Outline announced for the 2023 Dakar Rally

Issue #17:June 7, 2022

On June 5, 2022, organizers of the Dakar Rally A.S.O. (Amaury Sport Organisation) announced the outline for the 2023 Dakar Rally.

According to the announcement, the rally will once again be held in Saudi Arabia from December 31, 2022, to January 15, 2023, over a period of 16 days. Including the prologue stage, the grueling rally will consist of a total of 15 stages.

Route details are expected to be announced in around November 2022, but for now we know the course starts from the Sea Camp on the west coast overlooking the Red Sea and cuts across Saudi Arabia to Dammam on the east coast. 70% of the course is new and each stage has a length of 350-500km. Not only will this be a long race in terms of the number of days but the stages themselves will be long-distance.

Many participants have experienced the harsh terrain on the Empty Quarter (a vast and empty land) amidst the Rub' al Khali desert. There, organizers have revealed that three sand dune stages have been prepared, including a marathon stage.

Since moving the rally to Saudi Arabia, the 2023 Dakar Rally will not only be held over the longest period, but it will also be the longest distance. To prepare the new generation rally car based on the Land Cruiser 300 series for its debut win, TLC is performing endurance testing on the African continent in Morocco. TLC is working hard on preparations to enter with the best possible team formation and appreciates and welcomes everyone’s warm support and encouragement.

Scenes from the test will be shared on official TLC Instagram and Facebook accounts, so stay tuned!
